My full name is Farosat Alamshoeva, but you can call me Fara.
One year ago, I made the brave-😄-decision to pursue a creative career after getting a degree in International Development.
During university, I realized that I leaned more towards creative and action-oriented roles than I did to theoretical ones. I decided to learn the trade and in the span of one year, got a design mentor, earned the Google UX Certificate, mastered design tools like Figma and took on Adobe Suite, did some freelance UX work and even got commissioned by projects based at top Canadian Universities (University of Waterloo, York University).
I possess a natural ability to empathize with others deeply. In my work, I have excelled at user research, conducting in-depth interviews and usability studies to uncover user needs, motivations, and pain points. This deep understanding allows me to design products that are truly user-centric, anticipating user needs and creating a seamless and delightful user experience.
While my creativity is an asset, I also bring the benefits of logical and critical thinking, strong problem-solving skills and an adventurous outlook on challenges. My observant personality paired with my interest for human nature and human psychology also strengthen what I believe to be my main asset-Empathy.
I break challenges down to first principles and solve upwards. This method helps uncover all potential pain-points, user flow details and subsequently leads to the ideal, logical, and user-cantered solution. To avoid a purely analytical approach, I infuse my design solutions with an understanding of human emotions and psychology. This ensures that designs go beyond functionality and create meaningful connections with potential users.
I am originally from Tajikistan, from a mesmerizing mountainous region called Pamir. From grades 6 to grade 12, I lived and studied in Mombasa, a beautiful island in Kenya. Therefore, my admiration for mountains is constantly competing with my love for the beach; so far it’s a tie…
Having lived on three different continents and with my knowledge and appreciation of cultures and languages, I easily bond with different people. This helps me clearly articulate the user needs behind my designs and inspire buy-in while being open to feedback and fostering a collaborative design process.
I am ecstatic at the prospects of working in the field that combines all my strengths and passions and I am excited for any opportunity to showcase my talents and learn from future teammates.
